It’s Almost The Final Day! #RRBC #Spotlight #RWISA #Author @nonniejules

Hi! On the 6th day of my RRBC “SPOTLIGHT” Author tour, I thought I’d buck the norm and invite you to one of my other homes here online.  Thank you for visiting me again!  We do love company!  Welcome to BOOKS BY NONNIE!  Those books would be by me, of course, just in case there’s any doubt.

Here’s another excerpt, taken from my most recently published short story…

“OPEN, SHUT”

Open Shut by NJ

(This excerpt begins in the middle of a larger piece but I’m sharing this portion as it gives more clarity into future posts along the tour).

Dear Diary

Things have been so crazy here lately that I can’t even remember my name at times, let alone find time to write in you. I seem to always give Mom a reason to remind me of my name, though, so no worries that I’m ready for the loony bin yet.

Well, we finally got the results back from the doctor today and just as I thought…I’m really sick. Leukemia. When Mom and Dad heard the news, they both cried. Mom actually let out a howl. It was kind of embarrassing, but I’m pretty sure the hospital staff gets those kinds of reactions every day. It’s not like they’re a balloon delivery company or anything like that. I mean, they do hand out bad news for a living.

We sat listening to the doctor go thru his spiel of what we had to look forward to. Hospital stays, chemo, bald head…no future. Yeah, that’s pretty much what I got from it. Mom and Dad held hands while the doctor looked at me when he spoke. I thought, ‘Dude, I’m a kid. Shouldn’t you be telling them all this stuff?’ But, I guess my brain was using its inside voice today because doc weirdo kept speaking directly to ME. Maybe, since I was the only calm one there, he felt that I’d retain more of what he was saying.  OK … I’ll give him a pass.

The drive home from the hospital was pretty quiet. If I hadn’t been in the car, I’m sure they would have discussed tons. So, since they weren’t grown up enough to talk about it, I decided that task was to be all mine.

“Mom, Dad…I don’t want to tell Darcy and Bobby. I’m their big sister and I’m supposed to take care of them, not the other way around. I want them to continue to look up to me and depend on me…not feel sorry for me, OK?”

Surprisingly, they both agreed…and, without any argument. I’m not sure if they felt my idea a good one, or if they thought I really wouldn’t be here much longer so they should just honor my wish. Heck, if it was the latter, I might just have to take further advantage of this situation.

Anyway, enough sharing with you tonight. I’m exhausted. Not just from barfing my guts up earlier, but the news I got today is a pretty heavy cross for a kid to bear. Ha! Look at me talking about bearing crosses. I guess my Bible studies are starting to sink in.

Until next time ~ Lola

Thanks for dropping by! Learn more at the final stop tomorrow!

BIO:

Nonnie Jules, Founder & President of the RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB (#RRBC), a partner in 4WillsPublishing Author Services and wrangler of a very busy family, is often referred to as an enigma. Nonnie prefers to take that label up a notch as she does with everything in her life.  An enigma wrapped in a brain is the label that fits her best. That brain is what keeps all the moving parts of the ever-fluid RRBC in constant motion. Managing these successful entities along with her home life keeps her busy from dawn until dusk…literally.

Nonnie has authored several books in various categories such as SELF-HELP, NOVELS, POETRY and SHORT STORY. She refuses to be placed in a box as a writer of only one genre of literature. She feels that she can skillfully cover it all.

One of her desires is to become a best-selling author – not because all of her family and friends purchase her books, but, because her books are so good, everyone can’t help but spread the word about them.

OTHER BOOKS BY NONNIE:

“THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS”

“DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND”

“SUGARCOATIN’ IS FOR CANDY & PACIFYIN’ IS FOR KIDS”

“IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC: THE POETRY OF FORBIDDEN LOVE”

“…AND THE MUSIC PLAYED”

Nonnie, you brought your character to life and into my head. Dealing with so much tragedy at such a young age and handling it well.

Thank you for sharing because this is not an isolated problem.

I hope you are enjoying your day with your husband.
