Hello! Welcome to Books By Nonnie! I haven’t extended an invite to you, my dear friends, in quite some time, but it’s a new year and every new year ushers in better habits. I will be inviting more of my friends to share content here as well as infusing my own bit of writing for all to take in.
Today, I’m welcoming my dear friend and Author, John Fioravanti! John is on tour with his book, REFLECTIONS. When he asked me if I would write the foreword to this book, I was honored, and it was if the words were just waiting to flow from my pen. Writing the foreword to this amazing work of art was easy. It was easy because there is no chore in spreading the word about great written works. Today, John wishes to share that foreword with all of you.
Before I step aside and turn the floor over to him, please make note that John will be giving away (3) $5 Amazon gift cards to randomly selected visitors. To get your name entered into this giveaway, we ask that you leave a comment below as well as a comment on John’s 4WillsPub tour page.
Take it away, John!
Good day to you! I extend my appreciation to Nonnie who generously agreed to have me as a guest, and to the good folks at 4WillsPublishing who organized this tour.
REFLECTIONS – The Foreword:
Inspiration is a gift. Being one who has the ability to inspire others, is an even greater gift. Think of the many famous and less-than-famous authors who have spoken or penned words that others found meaningful. Words that may have been spoken without any intent of ever being noticed, repeated, and definitely not tagged as quotable.
We have become a society dependent upon words of inspiration. Online search forums such as Google and Bing have become our sources of instant gratification when we need words to lift us up, motivate and inspire.
Simply performing a search with the words inspire or motivate, yields thousands upon thousands of quotes from such greatness as Mother Teresa, Pope Francis, Martin Luther King, Jr., celebrities of every sport and even little people like Author, Nonnie Jules.
John Fioravanti, in his second wind of life, has decided to share his gifts with the world…his inspiration. In all my years of reading the work of notable authors, I have never been so impressed with anyone’s writing as I am with John’s. The art of sharing his own life experiences, often not in the greatest light, to inspire others to success and action, is genius beyond imagination, and it is generosity to a fault. Being able to point the finger in our own direction, shining a light on our insecurities and vulnerabilities, is an unselfish act performed on a stage of the very few, yet…the very brave.
He lays out his failures and fears, leaving himself vulnerable for all to see. He inspires us to grow by allowing us to see his struggles, so that we may tread a different path…an easier path, a more peaceful path.
John Fioravanti is a master of words so when you pick up a copy of his written work, expect to reflect upon life in a way you’ve never been forced to do before. REFLECTIONS is assuredly that book. Each chapter, each quote, no matter the original author, will bring you that much closer to your true self, your truest thoughts and the way you view the world around you. At long last, through words, you will stand in front of a mirror, unclothed and vulnerable, facing the naked truth of who you are, as opposed to who you aspire to be. We should thank him, you know, because there is no greater gift than that.

What do YOU think?
Does this question engage you or take you out of your comfort zone? Does it put you on the spot? REFLECTIONS is award-winning author and former educator John Fioravanti’s answer.
Offering his interpretations of fifty quotes by contemporary and ancient thinkers alike, John dives deep below the surface of words and explores the deeper meanings that shape his view of the world.
Deeply personal and presented in a self-effacing manner, these self-aware reflections will encourage you to dig deep within yourself and to discover more about the underlying truths that guide you.
Without trumpets or fanfare of any kind, John Fioravanti aspires to inspire you!
An Amazon Review
5.0 out of 5 stars Interspersed with life lessons and positivity
Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2020
Format: Kindle Edition
Reflections: Inspirational Quotes and Interpretations took me back into those corridors of learning where I had acquired the habit of collecting quotes and deriving inspiration from them. John Fioravanti has picked up some timeless quotes, with universal values and has added his own interpretation, with personal insights and experiences. Sometimes his analysis is refreshingly different and enriching – Mandino speaks of light but how prudently John interprets it as “truth!” You have to read it to appreciate that wisdom. The short introduction that he has given about the authors he quotes has added extra charm to this book. Some of the most relevant quotes are those of Aristotle, Buddha, Helen Keller and Maya Angelou that would continue to inspire humanity for ages.
“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself” says Wayne Dyer and how well John has explained that wallowing in self-pity keeps you stuck in the situation! Interspersed with life lessons, John’s book emphasizes that it is your attitude toward life that matters. We have to conquer our fears to live a meaningful life. If we know our potential, if we nurture independent thinking, if our attitude is positive, if we choose to be happy, we can become a better human being. One reading of this book is not enough. The more you read it; more clearly you would see the paths of life, you would also discover how cultivating a positive attitude helps in understanding that happiness is a choice that lies within us. Highly recommended.

Author Bio
John Fioravanti is a retired secondary school educator who completed his thirty-five-year career in the classroom in June 2008.
Throughout his career, John focused on developing research, analysis, and essay writing skills in his History classroom. This led to the publication of his first non-fiction work for student use, Getting It Right in History Class. A Personal Journey to the Heart of Teaching is his second non-fiction work; it attempts to crystallize the struggles, accomplishments, and setbacks experienced in more than three decades of effort to achieve excellence in his chosen field.
John’s first work of fiction is Passion & Struggle, Book One of The Genesis Saga, and is set within Kenneth Tam’s Equations universe (Iceberg Publishing). He claims that, after two non-fiction books, he’s having the time of his life bringing new stories and characters to life! Book Two is Treachery & Triumph.
At present, John lives in Waterloo, Ontario with Anne, his bride of forty-six years. They have three children and three grandchildren. In December of 2013, John and Anne founded Fiora Books for the express purpose of publishing John’s books.
